Prison Ministry Expo

A Spiritual Care Prison Ministry Expo was hosted by the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) at Pollsmoor Prison from 6-8 November 2019. The expo was represented by thirty-one different service providers, including non-Christian denominations to collaborate and determine how they could assist one another, to positively impact the lives of prisoners. NBI attended and utilized the occasion to showcase our prison ministry materials.

It was truly an honour to observe Deputy Minister Thabang Makwetla and Dr Rev Llewellyn McMaster from the United Reformed Church as the keynote speakers of the event.

DCS stressed the importance for programs that bring transformation, reduce recidivism, reconcile offenders with their families and communities and promote spiritual care. NBI had an opportunity to speak about our own prison ministry programs, as well as promote the Association of Religious Practitioners (ACRP), Athletes for Christ (AFC) and partners being Net working for Christ (NFC) and the Christian Literature Fund (CLF), whom we envisage to have their own stands for 2020’s Expo.

NBI made more contacts with many spiritual workers throughout the country, to increase our footprint.

Set reminders and save the date: This exciting expo will be held annually in Johannesburg in September 2020 as well as in Cape Town November 2020 (exact dates to be confirmed).
