Drug addiction can lead people down a path of desperation and despair. For Michaela, it led to a life of begging on street corners, using the money to feed her addiction and losing custody of her three-year-old daughter.
But thanks to the work of Nehemiah’s Building Bridges project, Michaela found a new path: One that leads towards hope, recovery and redemption.
After serving time in prison, Michaela was released but still, she faced many challenges. She was grateful for the resources provided by Nehemiah’s Bible Institute, including books and correspondence courses, which helped her stay connected to her faith and provided her with a sense of purpose during and after her time in prison.
However, her biggest challenge was regaining custody of her daughter. Michaela was determined to turn her life around and create a better future for her family. With the help of Nehemiah’s Bible Institute, she sought help from a rehabilitation centre, where she could work on overcoming her addiction and building a stable life for herself and her daughter.
Through all of these challenges, Michaela found comfort in the support of Nehemiah’s Building Bridges project. She said, “The books I received from Nehemiah helped me stay connected to my faith and provided me with a sense of purpose. The Building Bridges project gives me peace and a sense of belonging. It is a reminder that I am not alone.”
As Michaela continues to work towards regaining custody of her daughter, she continues to find solace in the resources provided by Nehemiah’s Bible Institute and its Prison Ministries.
Her story is a reminder that no matter how difficult the path may seem, with faith, support, and determination, there is always hope for a brighter future.
